December 2025 / January 2026
Thornham Village Hall is aware that a number of parking penalty notices were issued incorrectly over the New Year holiday period. This was caused by a technical issue during a handover in our car park management arrangements.
We became aware of the problem on 11 January, and by 12 January we had received confirmation from our car park management company that all penalty notices issued incorrectly during this period will be cancelled. Anyone who has already paid a fine in relation to these notices will be fully reimbursed. We are responding directly in this way to everyone who contacts us.
We have also informed Thornham Deli of this situation, as we have no wish for any of their customers to be disadvantaged while using the Thornham Village Hall car park.
We are aware that some visitors question why payment is required for parking once the free parking period has expired. Please note that visitors who are attending events or activities at Thornham Village Hall can park free of charge by entering their vehicle registration details into the touchscreen in the Hall foyer.
Thornham Village Hall Playing Field Limited is a not-for-profit charity that exists to support our local community. We have significant annual running costs that must be met, including:
- Car park maintenance and repairs
- Maintenance of the children’s play area
- Providing the Hall as a space for community activities such as the Soup and Sandwich lunches for elderly residents, along with Hall events for the community.
Income from the car park forms an important part of how we balance these costs.
All Trustees and some additional members of the team are volunteers and give their time freely; however, we do employ a small number of paid staff who are responsible for administration, bookings, and grounds management.
