Thornham Village Hall Chair appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Norfolk

Andrew Jamieson’s appointment as a Deputy Lieutenant of Norfolk highlights the importance of voluntary and community service across the county.

Thornham Village Hall & Playing Field has welcomed the appointment of its Chair, Andrew Jamieson, as a Deputy Lieutenant of Norfolk.

Andrew, who chairs the Hall’s Board of Trustees, has a long-standing involvement in public and community life in Norfolk. In his new role, he will support the Lord-Lieutenant in representing the Crown and the Lieutenancy across the county.

Andrew gives a huge amount of his time and energy to Thornham Village Hall, working alongside fellow trustees and volunteers on everything from its day-to-day operation to its longer-term future.

For the Hall, his appointment is therefore also an opportunity to celebrate something that happens rather more quietly every day: the contribution made by people who give their time to village halls, charities, clubs and communities across Norfolk.

Andrew said:

“It is a great honour to be appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Norfolk. I know from my own involvement with Thornham Village Hall & Playing Field, just how much time, energy and commitment people give to their communities, often without a great deal of recognition.

“Village halls, charities, clubs and voluntary organisations play an enormously important part in life across Norfolk, and I am very much looking forward to supporting the Lord-Lieutenant and the Lieutenancy in this new role.”

Sue Herbert, Vice Chair, at Thornham Village Hall & Playing Field, said:

“We are absolutely delighted for Andrew. He gives an extraordinary amount of his time to Thornham Village Hall and brings enormous energy and commitment to everything he does here.

“His appointment is richly deserved, but it also feels like a lovely recognition of the wider spirit of community service that Andrew represents and that we see among volunteers here at the Hall.”

Deputy Lieutenant of Norfolk… but still on watering and bar duty at the Village Hall!
